Zara’s musical journey began at age 5 with piano. By age 10, she became hooked on strings when she switched to viola. She earned a Bachelor of Music from Brigham Young University in Viola Performance and Pedagogy, and finished with a Master of Music in Viola Performance from the University of Michigan. Her love of teaching started even before her formal studies, and she now has over 30 years of private instruction experience. Performance has also been a passion for Zara. Not only does she have professional orchestral experience playing with Tucson Symphony, Ann Arbor Symphony, Flint Symphony, and Lansing Symphony, she has played in concerts with Rod Stewart, Josh Groban, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Mannheim Steamroller, and Johnny Mathis. Zara has been with Old Town Violins since 2014 and is a member of the electric string trio, Electria.
